Verizon Fios contract ends in October and I'm only interested in using them for internet going forward

So I've read through about 5 different threads and pretty sure I just need the Savage/Hustle boxes. I need two for my house and two for my mom

My 2 boxes:
I'm looking for the normal stuff...ESPNs, FS 1/2, NHLN, ACCN, NFLN, SECN, NBCSN, RedZone, and ideally skysports for EPL and BeIn for La Liga. Also need AT&T Pittsburgh for Pens' games. I have 2 TV's that sit right next to each other. The big screen has Verizon FIOS box connected to ethernet and then I have a jailbroke FireStick which is really just for TeaTV which is a fairly poor version of a pirated movie service. I pay for Amazon Prime TV and Netflix 4k version which i access through my Vizio SmartTV feature. I can also access Prime and Netflix through the FireStick on 1080 only (through WiFi) which I plug directly into my receiver.
- I don't care much about locals and free tv (cbs/nbc/abc) but would be good to have access to them for live sports but I don't specifically need the Pittsburgh versions.
- 2nd TV just has live sports rolling on it through a Fire TV box which is hardwired by ethernet. I have a 100 download speed so would prefer to stay away from WiFi sticks as the 4K sports viewing is not far away
- My typical viewing is movie on the big screen and a live sport with no sound on the small screen.

Mom 2 boxes:
Mom needs one for living room and one for bedroom but she is looking for the main cable shows (HGTV, NatGeo, FoxNews, MSNBC, Bloomberg) but they watch a lot of local Myrtle Beach news and then they use my Netflix subscription and a jailbroken FireStick for some movies but they haven't really figured out how to navigate and update TeaTV so pretty much use Prime and my Netflix account. So their obstacle is getting locals in SC as an OTA antenna from the Surfside/Murrels area wouldn't work very well. Likely one TV can get internet with ethernet and the other thru WiFi.

I saw the following:
Bushay - approx. 115/stick, only wifi, + $30/mo. he made mention to having a 60+ page thread on another site but not sure where that is?
Diago - Prodigy Elite, Hustle, or Savage boxes @$300/per with no monthly cost. Was discussion on Google Wifi Mesh but not sure what that is...I can plug any box through the ethernet hub in back of my two TV's (which will provide the max speeds) but my mom's will be in different rooms so probably one ethernet, one wifi
Lanquel - mentioned just having apps like cyberflix and BeeTV on an Android tablet (I assume this is like the old days when I had Kodi on my laptop plugged into tv?)
Raiders - said Nitro IPTV on two sticks $99 for 7 months service

I don't use facebook but can access user forums on my wife's account

(My thought was two boxes from diago but would I need that google mesh since both connected by ethernet? and then one diago box and one firestick for my mom...and then figure out her locals later)

I know we've covered this several times and I read through all the threads...just want to make sure stuff still works, is available ASAP, and meets the needs. I have no issue doing downloads of apps and updates but I'll probably have to set this up for my mom

For the wifi vs ethernet and Google Mesh discussion...
Speaking on the Prodigy, wifi is fine unless you're trying to stream 4k. I have one ethernet getting 400 and one wifi getting 40. The wifi one is fine for regular cable, probably wouldn't try to stream 4k on that one but that's not a need for me in the bedroom. If you did have a need to do 4k type stuff over wifi you'd probably need a mesh router a la Google Mesh. Sounds like she'd be fine doing what she wants to do.

The interface is super easy, and you never have to do updates, it auto-updates.

I have had Prodigy boxes for 3+ years, it still works as well as it always has with ongoing movie/channel additions and never having to do any updates myself.
I believe they are available now.

Prodigy Elite:
My only complaint is the minimal support for recording shows. You can access shows for 4-5 days after they broadcast, but I think after that you are S-O-L.

Harry, correct me if I'm wrong?

Is your mom tech savvy or is gonna be a full time job explaining everything to her?

Part Time job. I got her and her husband able to switch "source" from cable to firestick on their tv and to find the Samsung SmartTV apps for Amazon Prime. I set up to run everything through a nice receiver but they still just listen through the Samsung speakers :)

She has two grandkids nearby that are super savvy so I can set it up and pawn her off on them for future update needs but I will need to show her the ropes once I learn the systems. I was going to head down there around 6/18

yeah I would definitely need to understand that to watch things like Billions and What We Do In the Shadows a couple days after they went live...and even better is to binge 3-4 episodes at a time which is our norm

Some series, like Billions are available in the Video On Demand App, those you can access at any time... (all seasons). Not sure about 'In the Shadows'...

Yes basically correct.
You can record while watching and access that recording, but it's not like a real DVR.
The catch-up lets you watching anything that aired in the last 5 days. And any series I care about goes into the on-demand app within that time frame. So I have basically zero need for it.

Also should note that the Prodigy gives you all PPVs with reliable good streams, and all sports packages. All included.

I should add that they are pretty good about adding new series to the on-demand app when people request them...

Prodigy Elite. You get live TV. All the sports you want including ppv. Has Ondenand and comes pre-loaded with Cinema and Beetv apps for movies and already aired tv. You can get an antenna for local channels but you'll already get a local ABC, CBS, fox, and nbc for another part of the us.

Server 3 and also the new smarters app that comes installed on the new boxes have a TON of locals...hundreds.
I'm sure they have Pittsburgh locals.

Can you please PM me the website? I PM'd him yesterday but if there's a site I can order through there.

So there's a monthly subscription fee on top of the box costs?

I know they've made some changes, but not sure what the current costing structure is for new boxes. I am not nor have I ever been asked to pay a monthly fee but definitely ask Tony about options.
